Introductory Poem Activity
Objectives:
1. Read, Analyze, Interpret and Compare Poems 2. Illustrate an authentic interpretation based on one or more of the poems Tasks: 1. Read through all 4 poems on the right. (There are two formats-pick whichever one is easiest for you. 2. With your table mate: answer the 3-4 questions for each poem 2a. Use Google Docs or the file in the next column. 2b. Label the title of the poem and number your answers for each poem. 3. After you have answered your questions, answer the following questions: 3A. PICK 2-4 POEMS AND EXPLAIN WHAT THE POEMS HAVE IN COMMON? 3B. PICK 3 POEMS: WHAT FEELINGS DO THE AUTHORS TRY TO COMMUNICATE TO YOU AS A READER? USE TEXT EVIDENCE TO SUPPORT YOUR ANSWERS. 4. Lastly, pick 2-4 poems and create an authentic(your own) illustration representing the message and feelings the authors are trying to convey in their poems. Be creative and use technology to help you with this. |

3. Decide what material is most important in regards to:
*Irony
*Flashback
4. Create an authentic presentation to present to your peers regarding the material...Class discussion, Power point, Prezi, Worksheet, Role play, Video, Blog, Song & Dance, Art, Writing, or any other presentation type.
5. Plan for 6-8 minutes of presentation
How you will be Graded:
*Class material of Irony and flashback covered- 10 pts
*All members of group contribute to the creation -10 pts
*Presentation is of high quality and covers material in depth -10 pts
*Presentation lasts 6-8 minutes, all group members participate and engages audience appropriately- 10 pts
*Bonus Presentation(optional): Create your own Ironic situation for students to figure out- 5pts
