Book Info
Book Preview by Mr. Spicer:
What was it like to be an African-American girl during the civil rights movement? Tough is just scratching the surface of explaining Melba's journey. At 12 she did not know what she was signing up for, but she thought it might be interesting to see what a white school was like. She was not aware that the decision she made as a 12 year old would shape the rest of her life. Melba becomes part of the "Little Rock Nine" and documents the reality of what it was like to live during the civil rights movement. This book grabs your attention from her first story and does not let go until the end. Hold on tight during Unit 4! |
